I am currently a first year MA student in the NELC department. I study Arabic and modern Turkish with French as my research language. My research focuses on nationalism, refugee movements, and smuggling networks. I have also been able to take classes about Quranic historiography, Hebrew, and Arab-American literature. In addition to my studies, I worked as a teaching assistant for the Gateway to the Near East course as well as a course on the Ancient Near East.
I will be working in my thesis next year as I progress with my language learning. My research will focus on smuggling networks between Israel and the Palestinian Territories and how these networks undermine the concept of a secure nation-state.
